We can reassure you, by doing a full antenatal and postnatal check, as with your main care providers.

Consultations are private, professional and confidential. All will be recorded in supplied hand held records, which will compliment those issued to you by your chosen maternity hospital.

Your initial booking may last around an hour. We will take a detailed history, including your medical history, family history and any other pregnancies and births you have had. Your hospital notes will make this a quicker process. Please bring them with you. You will have your own The Midwifery Centre notes. These are A5 in size and can be carried inside of your hospital notes. Meaning that other practitioners will be able to view our consultations as necessary.

Subsequent antenatal appointments (and also therapies) will be more expedient once we have recorded your history. Antenatal consultations are an opportunity to check on the health of you and your baby and discuss and worries you may have. We will always check your blood pressure, urine, any oedema (swelling) and listen to the baby’s heartbeat with a sonicaid, so you can hear as well.

Antenatal care with your main caregivers will normally include appointments at around 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 38, 40 and 41 weeks. You may prefer to have some of these with The Midwifery Centre, however we recommend that you attend your 12, 28, 36 & 40 weeks checks with your main caregiver as a minimum. Our aim is to offer you enhanced antenatal care in between these times, as often as YOU want them to be. Helping you to be reassured and supported. As midwives we are experts in normal pregnancy, birth and afterwards. However if there is a deviation from normal we are required by our codes of conduct, to refer you to an Obstetrician for a medical opinion.

At our tranquil centre we have the facilities to offer you group educational sessions and wonderful alternative therapies, all which will help you become relaxed, reassured and empowered.
