Now that you have safely delivered your baby into this world and have ‘survived’ those first few weeks, we are aware that you need as much reassurance and education in the months following birth as you did in pregnancy.

At The Midwifery Centre we have three Midwives who are also qualified Health Visitors. In their health visiting roles, they can help you to extend your care and knowledge. Our support assists and guides you through some of the frightening and confusing aspects of being a parent.

These postnatal sessions as well as educating, enable peer support from others within the group who have children of similar ages. Of course, you may already have met each other, at Childbirth Education Sessions and at the Breast Feeding Drop-in, but if you haven't, this is a great opportunity to meet and make new friends in a similar situation to yourself.

We facilitate a course of four sessions held for 1 - 1 1/2 hrs over 4 weeks. These four sessions will cover informative and interesting topics:

Sleep and developing a routine

Safety issues related to developmental age

When to call the doctor

Weaning

We are exploring hosting a first aid course for babies facilitated by The St John's Ambulance. 21.02.08 1-3 pm

Baby Reflex to be taught in June 08

When your babies are a little older from about a year, or if you have older children you may wish to explore a practical parenting programme. Parents find this course enables them to understand the challenges that they are facing and how to deal with and resolve them effectively.

There are programmes to explore issues right through to teenagers and positive parenting, so we can offer continuing support and guidance for as long as you need.
