You will be able to see a midwife at anytime in between these NHS/Private appointments, in the comfort of our tranquil Midwifery Centre. We can reassure you, by doing a full antenatal and postnatal check, as with your main care providers.

Consultations are private, professional and confidential. All will be recorded in supplied hand held records, which will compliment those issued to you by your chosen maternity hospital.

Good postnatal care is invaluable. You should continue to have care by your community midwife and General Practitioner.

You will be seen 2 or 3 times in the first 10 days following delivery. Generally if you are having problems the community midwives will visit you more often. However, if you feel that you would like more time, than the community midwives can offer, we are happy to offer you enhanced postnatal care. ‘As well as, not instead of.’

This is a huge reassurance when you are having feeding problems or concerns about your new baby. The continuity of care prevents you receiving conflicting advice and helps build your confidence as parents.

Feeding problems can be overcome with good advice and support, and we are happy to help you as well as involve you in our breast feeding drop in’s which are held weekly.

With your consent and should you want us to, we can examine your breasts, tummy, blood loss and stitches to check that all is well. This will all be recorded in you’re handheld The Midwifery Centre, records at the back of the booklet

We will check your baby, his or her eyes, mouth, cord (tummy button), skin, stools etc. We also have baby scales to check your baby’s weight. All as an extension to what your community midwife will do.

Midwives have duty of care for a minimum of 10 days up to a maximum of 28 days. Then we we are able to offer you our own Health visitors at The Midwifery Centre.
