We midwives at The Midwifery Centre are also independent practitioners, but due to the commitment of our clinics, group sessions and therapies, do not at present offer intra partum care (delivery).
This is where Independent midwives differ from our service in that their role encompasses the care of women during pregnancy, birth and afterwards.
Their service offers continuity of care, and empowers women to make informed choices and decisions at every stage. A large proportion of their bookings is for homebirths, and the rest are for planned hospital births. They liaise with other healthcare practitioners if and when necessary. They can arrange all screenings and diagnostic tests such as scans and blood tests either through the NHS or privately. Should the desired they we can assist our clients in achieving this as smoothly and gently as possible. We can accompany our clients into all hospitals, our roles depending on local arrangements and our clients needs.
We midwives at The Midwifery Centre can work alongside other local Independent Midwives, enhancing their care. We can offer extra antenatal care, group sessions and alternative therapies.
We do not enter into your partnership arrangements. As stated before, we are like a library and a signposting facility.
Independent Midwives have their own networks, codes of ethics and support, although we are very happy to work alongside them.
Generally Independent Midwife will charge somewhere in the region of £3000.00 for each pregnancy, birth and postnatal package.
